You say in the directions:
"Your may use your calculators' graphing utility only to check the answers you get; by no means should those features be used as a primary way to obtain answers."
Question 4:
"Say I want to optimize the function f(x)= (1/3)(x-3)^3-2(x-3)^2+12...you should also include a good sketch of the function order to support any assertions."
May we use the graphing function of our calculator to get the graph to sketch it?
Harrison, you pose a good question to clarify. Yes, you may use the graphing utility in helping to generate a sketch of the function, but please do redraw it on your answer sheet to the best of your ability. Also, use your knowledge, based on derivatives, to precisely locate the relative extremes and the inflection point.
why is this test so ridiculous?
A truly compelling question posted by someone who'd rather remain anonymous. The question is so profound that it is best to just ponder it instead of trying to answer it.
